Board members attended the following committee meetings and community events since the last Board meeting and <br />provided a brief report: <br />Thomsen- December 9, 2017 —Toured buildings with Glen Larsen <br />December 12, 2017 — Served as a Teen Court Judge <br />December 13, 2017 — Attended a security meeting regarding the courthouse staying open past 5:30 for <br />jury trials <br />December 14, 2017 — Attended a Hastings Economic Development Meeting. Thomsen stated this was <br />the last meeting for HEDC Director Dave Rippe, options for Rippe's replacement are being considered. <br />Other topics of discussion were the development project north of Hastings and the expansion at Central <br />Community College. <br />December 15, 2017 — Attended the ASAAP quarterly breakfast <br />December 19, 2017 — Attended an Adams County Safety Committee Meeting <br />Stromer - December 7, 2017 — Attended a Community Action Partnership meeting in Kearney. <br />December 12, 2017 — Attended a Hastings Public Library Board meeting <br />Hogan - <br />December 7, 2017 —Attended a Midland Area Agency on Aging meeting; Chuck Neumann was elected <br />the new chairman of the MAAA Board <br />December 7, 2017 —Attended an Adams County Extension Board meeting <br />December 7, 2017 — Attended an Adams County Roads and Bridges Committee meeting <br />December 13th & 14th, 2017 — Attended the Annual NACO Conference in Kearney <br />Larsen- December 9, 2017 —Toured buildings with Scott Thomsen <br />December 15, 2017 — Attended the ASAAP quarterly breakfast <br />Curtis- December 7, 2017 — Attended an Adams County Extension Board meeting <br />December 9, 2017 — Attended a "coffee with the mayor" event; The Hastings Chamber may be <br />suggesting a public county forum regarding county projects <br />December 12, 2017 —Attended an Adams County Ag Society meeting <br />December 13 —15, 2017 - Attended the Annual NACO Conference in Kearney <br />Neumann- December 19, 2017 — Attended an Adams County Safety Committee meeting <br />December 15, 2017 — Attended the ASAAP quarterly breakfast <br />December 7, 2017 — Attended a Midland Area Agency on Aging meeting; Chuck Neumann was elected <br />the new chairman of the MAAA Board <br />December 6, 2017 —Attended a South Heartland District Health Department Board meeting <br />December 4, 2017 — Attended a Hastings Utilities meeting <br />Neumann also stated that the Adams County Wellness Committee would be sponsoring the employee <br />bowling event as last year. <br />Orthmann- December 7, 2017 — Attended a Midland Area Agency on Aging meeting; Chuck Neumann was elected <br />the new chairman of the MAAA Board <br />December 18, 2017 — Attended a Community Action Partnership meeting <br />December 13th & 14th, 2017 — Attended the Annual NACO Conference in Kearney <br />Chairman Orthmann opened the meeting for comments from the public. <br />Adams County Emergency Manager, Chip Volcek, stated that new employee ID cards will be issued the end of December <br />and effective January 1, 2018 the old cards will no longer get employees through security. <br />Adams County Road Superintendent, Dawn Miller, stated that the Adams County Roads Department would be receiving <br />an award for the Adams Central Road roundabout. <br />Adams County Maintenance Supervisor, Tom Reichert, stated that the jail elevator repairs are completed. <br />Adams County Resident, Mike Matthews, addressed the Board concerning a property in Prosser. Matthews stated there <br />is an abandoned property that is a potential danger to the community due to an open septic system, and root cellar. <br />Matthews stated he has been in contact with the Adams County Attorney's office as the property has been turned over <br />for a tax sale.
