HomeMy WebLinkAboutSP06-26-12COURTHOUSE HASTINGS NEBRASKA Tuesday, June 26, 2012 A regular meeting of the Adams County Board of Supervisors was held as per public notice given with Chairman, Larry Woodman, presiding. Roll call members present were: Thomsen, Curtis, Neumann, Hynes, Orthmann, Saathoff and Woodman. Motion by Orthmann, seconded by Curtis that this meeting is a regular meeting of the Adams County Board of Supervisors and public notice of this meeting has been given by publication in the Hastings Tribune and by posting. An agenda was available to the members and an agenda was kept currently amended and posted in the County Clerk’s office. Roll call, ayes: Thomsen, Curtis, Neumann, Hynes, Orthmann, Saathoff and Woodman. Nays, none. The Chairman announced the locations of the open meetings law and agendas in the room and also asked if there were any conflicts of interest with any agenda items. Minutes of the previous meeting were approved as circulated. Orthmann attended a Senior Services Board meeting on the 13th, an Adams County Convention & Visitors Board meeting on the 14th, a BID meeting on the 19th and the Buildings and Grounds Committee meeting this morning. Curtis attended an Ag Society Board meeting on the 12th and a Library Board meeting on the 18th. Neumann attended a CASA meeting on the 14th, a Wellness Committee meeting on the 20th and the Buildings and Grounds Committee meeting this morning. Hynes attended a meeting of the Board of Classifications and Standards on Thursday, a demonstration of fly ash on county roads on Monday, an LEPC meeting on Tuesday, a Risk management meeting in Lincoln, a Region III meeting on Thursday and the Roads Committee meeting this morning. Saathoff also attended the demonstration of fly ash on Monday, an appreciation dinner for Foster Grandparents on Sunday and the Roads Committee meeting this morning. Thomsen attended an ASAAP meeting on the 19th and the Buildings and Grounds meeting this morning. That committee is working on a new system/lines for the phones, windows for the ACOB, electrical issues in the jail and a new safe for the treasurer. Woodman attended the Roads Committee meeting this morning. During public comments, Ron Seymour, Extension Educator, gave invitations to the Boar d members to attend the Adams County Fair July 18th through the 22nd. 4-H activities actually start July 14th and finish with the 4-H livestock auction on July 23rd. Catherine Renschler of the Adams County Historical Society presented her budget request of $10,600.00 for year 2012-2013. Dave Rippe, HEDC Director, presented the budget request of HEDC for County funding in the amount of $20,000.00. Michele Bever, Director of South Heartland District health Dept. presented the Districts request for County funding in the amount of $2300.00 for the immunization clinic. Sandi Stevens of the South heartland District Health Dept reported on the overall results of the County Health Fair and pointed to the many successes seen by the employees in their health and savings of over $2000.00 per employee in medical costs. RuAnn Root, Director of CASA, presented her request for County funding in the amount of $34,000.00 for the 2012-2013 budget. The Board recessed at 10:57 AM and reconvened at 11:05 AM. Motion by Orthmann, seconded by Hynes to approve claims and authorize the County Clerk to pay the same from their respective funds. Roll call, ayes: Thomsen, Curtis, Neumann, Hynes, Orthmann, Saathoff and Woodman. Nays, none. District Judge Stephen Illingworth appeared to request salary in his budget request for a new bailiff and also additional budget for furniture. He requested $11,500.00 in last year’s budget but discovered that by buying through the state prison industry he could get three times the amount of furniture at about 1/3 the cost and better quality. He escrowed the $11,500.00 and was asking for additional budget funding in the amount of $3617.00. This would buy furniture for three offices rather than one. County Clerk Lewis read a resolution to the Board that would move funds within the General Fund to balance specific county budgets. Motion by Thomsen, seconded by Saathoff to approve and authorize the Chairman to sign Resolution 12-06-26 transferring funds within the County General Fund to the County Court, Public Defender and Veterans Service budgets for fiscal year 2011-2012. Roll call, ayes: Thomsen, Curtis, Neumann, Hynes, Orthmann. Saathoff and Woodman. Nays, none. Complete Resolution on file in the County Clerk’s office. Spencer Nelsen, USDA Wildlife Specialist, presented his annual report to the Board and a contract for continued services for 2012-2013. Motion by Saathoff, seconded by Curtis to approve and authorize the Chairman to sign the contract with USDA for animal control for 2012-2013. Roll call, ayes: Thomsen, Curtis, Neumann, Hynes, Orthmann, Saathoff and Woodman. Nays, none. This Board is adjourned.
