Roll call members present, Michael Stromer- District 1, Glen Larsen—District 2, Lee Hogan-District 3,Scott Thomsen—District 4, Dale Curtis-District 5,Chuck Neumann—District 6, Eldon Orthmann—District 7. Motion by Stromer,seconded by Larsen that this is an open public meeting of the Adams County Board of Supervisors. Roll Call;Ayes:Stromer, Larsen, Hogan,Thomsen,Curtis, Neumann, Orthmann. Nays: None. Orthmann stated that minutes from the May 7, 2019 meeting have been circulated and will stand approved unless there is a correction. No corrections were suggested minutes approved by unanimous consent. Spouse Abuse Sexual Assault Crisis Center(SASA) Director,Jo Springer, provided the Board with an update from the SASA office and submitted a budget assistance request of$12,500.00. No action on the budget assistance request was taken as all budget assistance requests will be reviewed and considered at a later date. a S a crisis center Adams County Board of Supervisors May 15,2019 500 W 4th Hastings, NE 68901 RE: Request for funds The Spouse Abuse Sexual Assault(SASA)Crisis Center respectfully requests funds in the amount of $12,500.00 to support efforts to serve clients from Adams County during the FY 2019-2020. SASA is a private,non-profit organization that provides services to victims of domestic and sexual violence as well as to domestic violence offenders.An outline of services available to Adams County residents includes: 590 ' Page • 24-hour crisis hotline • Crisis counseling • Emergency financial assistance, including transportation,medical,clothing,and child care • Confidential Shelter • Legal and medical advocacy • Mental Health Therapy • Support and education groups for victims • Batterer intervention program—educational group for offenders • Community awareness and education With the ongoing support of Adams County,SASA maintains quality local services. In 2018,SASA provided 3,152 support sessions to 431 unduplicated individuals from Adams County.Of these individuals,46 were provided safe housing in one of our shelters.A total of 587 bed nights and 1,761 meals were provided to these individuals. Our Batterer's Intervention Program provided education to 42 men;staff helped clients file 101 protection and harassment orders;court accompaniment was provided 118 times;community education about domestic violence,sexual assault,stalking,and teen dating violence was provided at Hastings College, Central Community College, Horizon Recovery and Counseling,and a variety of churches;44 individuals received substance abuse and mental health services provided by community partners and paid for by SASA. A new violence prevention program was launched at Maryland Living Center,meeting twice monthly on an ongoing basis. Your continued support is extremely important to our agency.With these funds,SASA provides localized services to support survivors'efforts to live a life free of domestic and sexual violence.We sincerely hope you will consider funding our programs during the 2019-2020 fiscal year. No action is required by the Adams County Board of Supervisors, Bonham presented the list as a courtesy to the Board. • Fly on the Ford will receive$1500.00 for advertising expenses;this event will be held in June at the Hastings Municipal Airport • The Nebraska High School Rodeo at the Adams County Fairgrounds will receive$4,500.00 • $1,000.00 was awarded to the Village of Juniata to host Juniata Days in July, 2019 • The Nebraska Auctioneers Association will receive$5,000.00 to cover costs associated with hosting the event at the C3 Hotel in Hastings Adams County Highway Director, Dawn Miller,was unable to attend the meeting,Supervisor Hogan presented Miller's item on her behalf. Hogan presented the 2019 gravel and road maintenance agreements between Adams County and the following townships; Blaine, Hanover, Highland,Juniata, Kenesaw, Little Blue, Logan,Verona,Wanda, West Blue, Zero.The agreements have been reviewed by Miller and Hogan, Hogan requested approval. Motion by Neumann, seconded by Hogan to approve the 2019 gravel and road maintenance agreements between Adams County and the townships read by Hogan.
