HomeMy WebLinkAbout0724 Minutes for July 24, 2019 (BOE - Property Valuation Protests) COUTHOUSE HASTINGS,NEBRASKA Wednesday;July 24,2019 The Adams County Board of Supervisors met as a Board of Equalization for the purpose of hearing property valuation protests,with Chairman Orthmann presiding.Present were Board members; Stromer,Larsen,Thomsen,Orthmann and Neumann;County Clerk Ramona Thomas,assistant recorder Paula Scheil,County Assessor Jackie Russell,Adams County Appraisers,Bernie Parr,Shannon Bird and Stuart Nabower. Board members absent were;Hogan and Curtis Motion by Neumann,seconded by Stromer that this is an open meeting that was advertised in the Hastings Tribune.Roll Call: Stromer,Larsen,Hogan,Thomsen,Neumann Nays: 0 Abstaining:0 Absent:Hogan,Curtis —The Pledge of Allegiance was performed. ;hairman Orthmann requested that board members disclose any conflicts of interest with the protests to be heard today. No Conflicts of interest were disclosed. Prior to presenting evidence supporting their claims,all protesters and/or representatives present and wishing to speak signed an oath stating the information they are providing is the truth to the best of their knowledge and belief. All protesters that were present were provided an explanation to the valuation process by the Adams County Assessor. Protest 19-0087;Property owner William Penrose was present to protest the valuation of his property located at 2120 W 12th Street in Hastings.Penrose stated the location is no longer desirable due to truck and school traffic.Assessor Russell cited several sales in the neighborhood and explained the valuation process.
