Motion by Shannon, seconded by Shaw, that the following resolution be adopted:
RESOLUTION.
WHEREAS, a substantial benefit will be obtained by Adams County through work to be performed by such
persons on public projects, and it is for the public interest that Jay Goble make a request for the assign-
ment of such Work Agreements:
NOW, THEREFORE, Be it resolved that requests be made to the Resettlement Administration to assign such
persons who have signed Work Agreements to work on public projects in Adams County, and that Jay Goble, of
Ayr, Nebr be, and he is authorized, from time to time, to make formal request for the assignment to Adams
County of such Work Agreements and for Such number of persons as the progress of the work on public projects
in Adams County may require, and for that purpose the said Jay Goble is hereby authorized to execute for and
in the name of Adams County, a formal request to the Resettlement Administration in the following form:
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that in consideration of the assignment of such work ,agreements, and the work
to be performed by such persons, Adams County Board of Supervisors agrees: (a) To supply all tools, equip-
ment, materials and other supplies to be used on the above project, and if for any reason it should fail
to supply such material and supplies, to release the laborers for other work projects for which the labor
is needed and supplies are available; (b) to use all reasonable care and consideration in the direction of
such laborers, to provide adequate supervision of the laborers on the project, and to supply the necessary
appliances and materials for administering first-aid in case of injury; (c) that if it should accept for
employment any client who lives more than five miles from the location of the project, it will provide him
with the necessary transportation free of charge; (d) that no client shall be permitted to work more than
eight (8) hours in any day or more than forty (40) hours in any week, end no client shall be permitted to
work on a Sunday or a legal holiday; (e) that no client shall be permitted to work whose physical condition
would make his employment dangerous either to himself or to other persons; (f) to make monthly reports to
the Resettlement Administration of the number of hours of labor performed by each client.
And further agrees to assume responsibility for the payment, and agrees to pay to such persons, com-
pensation for injuries arising out of, and in the course of their employment in accordance with the pro-
visions of the 'Workmen's Compensation Law of this state. Roll call, all voted aye. Motion carried.
Motion by Berg, seconded by Goble, that this board adjourn to meet again on January 6th, 1937 at 9 o'clock

Motion by Harm, seconded by Bowers, that the application of the C & N W Railway for a .refund of s
assessment be disallowed. Roll call, all voted aye. Motion carried.

The Adams County Board of Supervisors met as per recess'of January 6th, 1937.
Roll call, members present: Berg, Goble, Harm, Marian,Bowers, Shannon and Shaw.
Motion by Shannon, seconded by Harm, as their appears to be no more unfinished business that this
board now adjourn sine die. Motion carried.
Re -organization of the Board.
Motion by Harm, seconded by Shaw, that J. E. Marian be appointed as temporary chairman. Motion carried.
Motion by Berg, seconded by Harm, that we proceed to take an informal ballot for the appointment of a
permanent chairman. Roll call, all voted aye. Motion carried.
An informal ballot was ordered and the chairman appointed Shannon and Goble as tellers with results as
follows: Marian five, Goble one, Shaw one.
Motion by Harm, seconded by Shaw, that the informal ballot be made formal and that J. E. Marian be declared
duly appointed chairman of the Adams County Board of Supervisors for the year 1937. Roll call, all voted
aye. Motion carried.
At 2o'clock P.M. the board recessed until 2:15. At 2:15 the chairman announced the following committees
for the year 1937.

Motion by Shaw, seconded. by Berg, that the County Clerk be and is hereby authorized to issue warrants on the
first day of each month to all county officers, deputies, and clerks in county offices who are entitled to receive
pay on county warrants in such amounts as are fixed by law governing the different county offices, or upon
agreement with the county board, also, that the chairman of the county board be authorized to sign such warrants,
also, that this order is to apply to county road employees who are to receive a monthly salary. Roll call, all

Motion by Goble, seconded by Mizen, that the salaries of the county employees for the year 1937 be as follows:
Road dragging 30¢ per single mile, single man 25q per hour, man and team 50V per hour, man and two teams 60V per

county board becomes dissatisfied at any time for any reason with the work of the said George Fisk the

RESOLUTION
Whereas, the St. Paul Mercury Indemnity Company of St. Paul, Minnesota has offered to compromise and settle
the actionanow
o pendingdithe
oDiAsttrict Court of the United States for the Distric t of Nebraska, Hastings
Division, g County s,Nebraska arising out of a dispute over additional premium on policies
W-65579 and CP 25178 for the aggregate sum of x$h933.99, which the said company has offered to accept in full
settlement, satisfaction and discharge of any and all clairis against the County of Adams, Nebraska arising or
which may arise out of or under the above described policies.
NOW, THEREFORE, it is resolved by the County Board of Supervisors of Adams, County, Nebraska that the said
offer of settlement, discharge and release should be, and hereby is, accepted; that the claim of the company
in the sum'of $933.99 be, and it hereby is, allowed as and for full compromise settlement and discharge of said
law suit and any and all claims which are now made or may be made arising out of or under the policies above
described; and that in consideration of said compromise and settlement, the said company will forthwith with-
draw and dismiss the acion now pending.

Motion by Shannon, seconded by Mizen, that the following resolution be adopted:
RESOLUTION.
BE IT RESOLVED; That the Chicago Burlington & Quincy Railroad Company be authorized, at its expense and without
expense to .Adams County, Nebraska, to modify and change the highway north of the right of way of said railroad
company, as it exists near the south line of the Southwest Quarter of Section 9, township 7, north, range 10,
west 6th P.M., in Adams County, Nebraska, by constructing the road north of its present location, made necessary
by changes to be made in the tracks of the railroad company across said land, or by constructing aroad from the
place where it now crosses said right of way along the north side of the right:of pray of Missouri Pacific Rail-
road Company, east to about station 8182 of the Chicago Burlington & Quincy Railroad Company, and then across
the right of way of the Burlington Railroad Company by means of an overhead crossing, at an angle of about 60°
or by constructing a road south of the right of way of the Phi ssouri Pacific Railroad Company along the nathern

Quarter of Section 16, township 7, range 10, �Urest"�6t1�.' P.M. ; and along the northern part
of the Northeast Quarter of said Section 16 to the east line of said section by acquiring the necessary right
of way therefor, of not less than fifty feet in width, it being underst000 as a condition of this authority
that which ever alternative is adopted by the Chicago Burlington & Quincy Railroad Company, that it shall be
without expense to Adams County, Nebraska, and that the road shall be so constructed that it will be as good
a road as the present road now is, that this authority is granted because of the fact that the railroad company
is contemplating changes and improvements in, its facitlities at said place, which makes it necessary that some
alterations and changes in said highway be made. Roll call, all voted aye. Motion carried.

Regular meeting of the Adams County Board of Supervisors met as per adjounrment of May 7th, 1937. J. E. Marian,
Chairman, presiding.
Roll call, members present: Berg, Goble, Harm, Marian, Shannon & Shaw.
Minutes of last meeting were read and approved.
Motion by Shannon, seconded by Mizen, that the Board reconsider our former action on May 7th of selling Lot 9,
Block 2, Rohrer's Addition, City of Hastings, Adams County, Nebraska. Roll call, all voted aye. Motion
carried.
Motion by Goble, seconded by Shaw, that the county of Adams do not at this time sell Lot 9, Block 2, Rohrers
Addition; and that the money heretofore paid in to the county Clerk by Ralph Dominy be refunded and returned
to said Ralph Dominy. Roll call, all voted aye. Motion carried.
Motion by Shaw, seconded by Berg, that we approve the bond of Lloyd A. Joynt, Constable, Roseland Twp. Roll
call, all voted aye. Motion carried.
Motion by Harm, seconded by Mizen, that parties dragging township roads be prohibited from using lug tractors.
Roll call, all voted aye. Motion carried.
Motion by Goble, seconded by Shaw, that we enter into an agreement with the Lincoln Road Equipment Co. for the
purchaser of one R D # 7 Caterpillar tractor at an agreed price of $4704 and one used Model 60 Caterpiller
tractor. Roll call, all voted aye. Motion carried.
Motion by Shannon, seconded by Shaw, that the order of court in regard to Mother's Pension for Florence Willis
be complied with and the clerk instructed to issue warrants for the same. Roll call, all voted aye. Motion
carried.

of Free High School Districts. Roll call, all voted aye. Motion carried.
Motion by Shaw, seconded by Shannon, that every citizen of Adams County between the age of 21 and 50 years be
taxed $2.00 each for the old age pension fund. Roll call, all voted aye. Motion carried.
Motion by Harm, seconded by Goble, that this board adjourn sine die as a board of Equalization. Motion carried.

Regular meeting of the Adams County Board of Supervisors met es per adjournment of June 5th, 1937. J. E. Marian,
Chairman, presiding.
Roll call, members present: Berg, Goble, Harm, Marian, Mizen, Shannon and Shaw.
Minutes of last meeting were read and approved.
Motion by Shannon, seconded by Berg, that the second quarterly report of the Sheriff and Clerk of District Court
and the report of James F. Crowley be placed on file. Roll call, all voted aye. Motion carried.
Motion by Shaw, seconded by Shannon, that the bond of Peters.'ittz, Roadoverseer Dist. # 55 Logan Twp., be approved.
Roll call, all voted aye. Motion carried.
Motion, by Harm, seconded by Shannon, that we lease the county farm to Peter Klein for 1938 at the same terms as
per contract for 1937, including half share rent for alfalfa ground. Roll call, all voted aye. Motion carried.
Motion by Berg, seconded by Harm., that the following resolution be adopted:
RESOLUTION.
WEIREAS, by order of the County Court of Adams County, Nebraska, dated October 30, 1929, and filedinsaid Court
on November 2, 1929, in the matter of the estate of John O'Connor, deceased, the following described real estate
situated in Adams County, Nebraska, was found to have escheated to the State of Nebraska and proper deeds and
conveyances were on that day ordered delivered to the State of Nebraska; that the real estate which so escheated
to the State of Nebraska is;
The Southwest quarter (SVS) of Section Twenty-seven (27), Township Seven (7), Range nine (9);
The Northwest quarter (NWS) of Section Thirty-four (34), township seven (7), Range nine (9);
Lots 3, 4 and 5, in Block 26, Original Town now City of Hastings; all in Adams County, Nebraska;
that by oversight all of said property has been permitted to remain upon the tax rolls of Adams County, Nebraska,
but because the property owned bythe State of Nebraska,or an
p p ty any governmental subdivision thereof is not taxable,
the said property and every part thereof should be withdrawn and removed from the taxable property in Adams
County, Nebraska.
IT IS THEREOFRE RESOLVED by the County Board of Supervisors' of Adams County, Nebraska, that the above described
real estate and every part thereof be removed from the tax rolls of Adams County, Nebraska, and that the same
be not assessed or taxed so long as the State of Nebraska owns the same.

Regular meeting of the Adams County Board of'Supervisors met as per adjournment of July 6th, 1937. J. E. Marian,
Chairman, presiding.
Roll call, members present: Berg, Goble, Harm, Marian, Mizen, Shannon and Shaw.
Minutes of last meeting were read and approved.
Motion by Shannon, seconded by Berg, that Hubert Favinger be appointed as substitute and acting County Judge for
the balance of the present term of the County Judge. Roll call, all voted aye. Motion carried.
Motion by Shaw, seconded by Mizen, that the second quarterly report of the County Judge, Register of Deeds, and
the County Clerk be placed on file. Roll call, all voted aye. Motion carried.
Motion by Shannon, seconded by Shaw, that we approve the bond of Hubert F. Favinger, substituting and acting
County Judge, be approved. Roll call, all voted aye. Motion carried.
Motion by Harm, seconded by Berg, that we accept the resignation of George Fisk as Deputy Sheriff. Roll call,
all voted aye. Motion carrisd
Motion by Goble, seconded by Mizen, that the request of Sheriff Woods be granted and that we approve the
appointment of George Sarver as special Deputy Sheriff, the thiel duty of whoae office is the collection of
delinquent personal taxes as per agreement on file in the County ClerK's office. Should it develope that the
county board becomes dissatisfied at any time for any reason with the work of the said George Sarver the County
Board reserves the privelege of discharging him at anytime. Roll call, all voted aye. Motion carried.
Motion by Shaw, seconded by Mizen, that we approve the bond of George Sarver, Special Deputy Sheriff. Roll call,
all voted'aye. Motion carried.
Motion by Harm, seconded by Berg, that the order of the court in regard to Mother's Pension for Dorothy Bradford,
Alma Horning, Elizabeth Tuggert, Margaret Kindig, Mae Kueck, Lillian Piel, Thelma Robinson, Vera Sanford and
Pauline Meininger, be complied with and the clerk be instructed to issue warrants for the same. Roll call, all
voted aye. Motion carried.
Motion by Berg, seconded by Shaw, that the following list of names be submitted to the Clerk of District Court
from which to draw the jury for the next term of District Court:

Motion by Shannon, seconded by Mizen, that we enter into e contract with T. F. Sundermeier for the annual audit
of the various county offices for the year 1937 at an agreed price of $455.00. Roll call, all voted aye.
Motion carried.
Motion by Shannon, seconded by Goble, that we purchase from the F. H. Brandes Co. one 1937 Dodge 12 ton heavy
duty truck at an agreed price of $725.00 and one used 1930 Ford truck. Roll call, all voted aye. Motion carried.
Motion by Berg, seconded by Shaw, that we purchase from McClelland -Dunn Motor Co. one 1937 ford 1N ton truck at
an agreed price of $624.00 F.O.B. Hastings and one used 1930 Ford truck. Roll call, all voted aye. Motion
carried.

Regular meeting of the Adams County Board of Supervisors met as per adjournment of September 7th, 1937. J. E.
Marian, Chairman, presiding.
Roll call, members present: Berg, Goble, Harm, Marian, Mizen, Shannon & Shaw.
Minutes of last meeting were read and approved.
Motion by Harm, seconded by Goble, that the third quarterly report of the Clerk of District Court and Sheriff
be placed on file. Roll call, all voted aye. Motion carried.
Motion by Shannon, seconded by Mizen, that the bond of David Elliott, Village Treasurer, be approved. Roll call,
all voted aye. Motion carried.
Motion by Harm, seconded by Mizen, that any person seeking medical attention the charges for which must come
from Public Funds will hereafter call the Adams County Relief Office or in the event that they are unable to
reach any member of the relief office staff, will then call upon the county supervisor in their respective
district. Roll call, all voted aye. Motion carried.
Motion by Berg, seconded by Shaw, that the order of the court in regard to Mother's Pension for Esther Shaw,
Selma Gebhardt and Hattie Brown be complied with and the cleric be instructed to issue warrants for the same.
Roll call, all voted aye. Motion carried.
Motion by Shannon, seconded by Shaw, that the security for county funds in the Hastings banks be approved as
follows: Hastings National Bank 4153,000 and City National Bank $124,000. Roll call, all voted aye. Motion
carried.
Motion by Goble, seconded by Mizen, that the clerk be instructed to take frons tax records for the years 1931
to 1936 inclusive, taxes assessed on State owned property formely in the name of John O'Conor. Roll call,
all voted aye. Motion carried.

Motion by Shannon, seconded by Mizen, that the following resolution be adopted:
RESOLUTION
WHEREAS on the 30th day of September, 1937 the City of Hastings, Nebraska received as a gift from one Helen
Babcock the following described property: Lot 6 Alexander's,Sub-division and Lot 10 Alexander's First Addition
to the City of Hastings, Adams County, Nebraska - the same to be used by the City for Park purposes and 1936
taxes and all prior taxes thereon have been paid, and
WHEREAS, the last described property is now the property of the City of Hastings, Nebraska a governmental sub-
division of the State of Nebraska and should be withdrawn and removed from the taxable property of Adams County,
Nebraska as long as the same is held and owned by the City of Hastings, Nebraska for park purposes.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: That the above described real estate and every part thereof be removed from the
tax rolls of Adams County, Nebraska in accordance with this Resolution, and that the said property be not assessed
or taxed as long as the City of Hastings'owns the same.

Motion by Shaw, seconded by Mizen, that the following resolution be adopted:
RESOLUTION
BE IT RESOLVED that the County Board of Supervisors sell toAlias Marsh, for the sum of $300.00, the following
described property: Lot 7, Block 6, West Lawn Addition'to the City of Hastings, Adams County, Nebraska --
which was bid in by the County on a tax foreclosure sale; and that the chairman of the County Board be hereby
authorized to execute, and the County Clerk authorized to attest a deed to said purchaser for said price. Roll
call, all voted aye. Motion carried.
Motion by Harm, seconded by Goble, that the following resolution be adopted:
RESOLUTION
BE IT RESOLVED that the County Board of Supervisors sell to W. A. Knicely,for the sum of 00.00, the following
described property: Lot 14, Block 1, McKnights addition to the City of Hastings, Adams County, Nebraska,
which was bid in by the county on a tax foreclosure sale; and that the chairman of the County Board be hereby
authorized to execute, and the County Clerk authorized to attest a deed to said purchaser for said price. Roll

Motion by Mizen, seconded by Goble, that the following resolution be approved:
RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, it appears from the records in the office of the Recorder of Deeds that in. 1925 the Mount Pleasant
Cemetery Association acquired title to a tract of ground 144 feet by 20 rods in the Southeast corner of the
Southeast Quarter (SE) of Section seven (7), Township six (6), Range (10) ten; and
WHEREAS, it appears in the County Treasurer's tax sale certificate #920 that said property has been assessed for
the years during which it has been owned by the said Mount Pleasant Cemetery Association; and
WHEREAS, the said Mount Pleasant Cemetery Association is an organization exempt by law from the payment of taxes,
BE IT RESOLVED, that the County Treasurer be authorized and instructed to cancel said tax sale certificate #920.

described property: Lots 4, 5.& 6, Block I0, Dawes & Foss, Which was bidfin by the county on a county tax
certificate foreclosure sale; and that the chairman of the County Board be hereby authorized to execute and
deliver a warranty deed to said purchaser."
