Regular meeting of the Adams County Board of Supervisors met as per adjournment of Dec. 6, 1941. Roll call, all members present: Foote, Goble, James, Harm, Hohlen, Sergeant, and Shaw. Minutes of last meeting were read and approved. Motion by Goble, seconded by Foote, that the following resolution be adopted: "WHEREAS, Fred Jesse and Dorothy Jesse, husband and wife, are the owners and holders of the following described property, to -wit: Lots 384, 385 and 386, Original Town of Juniata, Adams County, Nebraska, which is their homestead, and of a value of less than $700, and WHEREAS, the County of Adams has a lien on said property for unpaid costs in the case of State of Nebraska vs. Fred Jesse, case No. 8786, and State of Nebraska vs. Fred Jesse, case No. 9153, in the sum of $73.10, plus interest, subject to their homestead exemption of $2000 in the above described property, and WHEREAS, said lien is of no value against said property under said terms and conditions, NOW THEREFORE, the County Clerk is hereby instructed to release said above described property from the judg- ment liens above mentioned." Roll call, all voted aye. Motion carried. Motion by Sergeant, seconded by James, that the following resolution be adopted: ne do hereby cancel the taxes for the years and in the amounts, together with interest, as set out in Exhibit "A" on file in the County Clerk's office, for the reason that said property was wrongfully assessed, a part thereof belonging to churches, being used for religious purposes during the years mentioned in said Exhibit "A"; a part thereof belonging to school districts, railroads, cities and villages, during the years set out in said Exhibit. The County Clerk is hereby instructed to cancel said taxes of record." Roll call, all voted aye. Motion carried. Motion by Foote, seconded by Hohlen, that the monthly report of the Sheriff, Judge, County Clerk Car Titles, Register of Deeds, Clerk of District Court, and annually report of Adams County Farrn Bureau and County Supt. Institute Expenditures be placed on file. Roll call, all voted aye. Motion carried. Motion by Foote, seconded by Hohlen, that we sell Lots 9, 10, 11, 12, and 13, Block 1, E. K. Wemple's Addition to Cora A. Decker for $150. Roll call, all voted aye. Motion carried. Motion by Harm, seconded by Foote, that the following inventory reports of the various county offices and depart- ments be accepted and placed on file: Supervisors of Districts No. 1, 2, 3, and 4, County Clerk, Register of Deeds, Clerk of District Court, County Treasurer, County Judge, Sheriff, County Assessor, County Attorney, County Surveyor, County Superintendent of Public Instruction, Adams County Farm Bureau Office, Director Relief Office, Housekeeping Aid Project Center, Library Sponsor, Sewing Center, and Custodian of Court House. Roll call, all voted aye. Motion carried. Motion by Sergeant, seconded by Goble, that the applications of Goldie Carrell and Beulah B. Porter for Mother's Pension by approved. Roll call, all voted aye. Motion carried. Motion by Goble, seconded by Sergeant, that the following claims be allowed on their respective funds and the County Clerk be instructed to issue warrants for the same:. Roll call, all voted aye. Roll call, all members present: Foote, Goble, Harm, Hohlen, James, Sergeant, and Shaw. Motion by Goble, seconded by Foote, that John L. Shaw be appointed as temporary chairman. Roll call, all voted aye. Motion carried. Motion by Foote, seconded by James, that we suspend all rules and the temporary chairman be declared duly ap- poinmotionted the ethereupon�nof the lost for County consent. of Supervisors for the year 1942 --to which. Mr. Harm objected Motion by Harm, seconded by Sergeant, that we proceed to take an informal ballot for the appointment of a perma- nent chairman. Roll call, all voted aye. Motion carried. An informal ballot was ordered and the chairman appointed Harm and Foote as tellers with results as follows: First ballot - Hohlen 3, Shaw 2, Goble 2. Second ballot . Hohlen 5, Goble 2. Motion by Goble, seconded by Shaw, that the informal ballot be made formal and firm. H. Hohlen be declared duly appointed chairman of the Adams County Board of Supervisors for the year 1942. Roll call, all voted aye. Motion carried. Motion by Harm, seconded by Foote, that The Hastings Daily Tribune be designated the County Official paper for the year 1942. Roll call, all voted aye. Motion carried. .. ...........: Notion by Foote, seconded by Shaw, that we approve the following banks as county depositories: Hastings National Bank, Hastings; City National Bank, Hastings; Adams County Bank, Kenesaw; Roseland State Bank, Roseland; also, approve the bonds posted for the security of Adams County funds in the following banks and amounts: Hastings National Bank City National Bank Roseland State Bank Adams County Bank $$120,000.00 98,800.00 20,000.00 10,600.00 and, that we authorize the County Treasurer to deposit up to 100% of the capitol stock and surplus in any of the depository banks named - said deposits to be protected by the usual amount of security as required by law. Motion by Foote, seconded by Shaw, that the County Clerk be and is hereby authorized to issue warrants on the last day of each month to all county officers, deputies and clerks in county offices who are entitled to receive pay on county warrants as are fixed by law governing the different county offices and upon agreement with the County Board; also, that the Chairman of the County Board be authorized to sign warrants; also, that this order is to apply to county employees who are to receive a monthly salary. Motion by Shaw, seconded by James, that Bond No. 4109056, dated Nov. 8, 1935, given by the Nebraska Natural Gas Company, be cancelled and released effective as of September 6, 1941, for the reason that said principal is no longer the owner of the easement granted thereunder and that satisfactory evidence and showing has been made that no bond is necessary on behalf of the Kansas -Nebraska Natural Gas Co,,, Inc., present owner and assignee of the said easement. COURT HOUSE, HASTINGS, NEBRASKA. Friday, Febr. 6, 1942. 9 o'clock A. M. Chairman Regular meeting of the Adams County Board of Supervisors met as per adjournment of January 13, 1942. Roll call, all members present: Foote Goble, Harm, Bohlen, James, Sergeant, and Shaw. Minutes of last meeting were read and approved. Motion by Harm, seconded by Foote, that we purchase grave markers for the Spanish American War Veterans. Roll call, all voted aye. Motion carried. Motion by Sergeant, seconded by Shaw, that we sell West 17 feet of Lot 3, Block 5, and all of Lot 4, Block 5, Prosser Village, Adams County, Nebraska/ Roll call, all voted aye. Motion carried. to Emma Mc Leod for the amount of $5.00. Motion by Foote, seconded by Harm, that the following resolution be adopted: "In the Matter of Julia Sill, in- competent. Comes now, Blinn Sill, and respectfully shows to your Honorable Board: 1 - That he is the legal guardian of Julia Sill, and that the said Julia Sill has been an insane person for more than three years last past, and is now receiving treatment in the Nebraska State Hospital at Ingleside, Nebraska; 2 - That the income from the estate of the said Julia Sill is not sufficient to maintain the said Julia Sill; 3 - That your peti- tioner in hisown right is the owner of the South One-half (Si) of Lots One (1) and Two (2) in Block Two (2), Hillcrest Sub -division of a part of Park Place in Hewett's Addition to Hastings, Nebraska which is not the home- stead of the petitioner and the said Julia Sill, and that your petitioner now has an opportunity to make a fair and reasonable sale of the said property for cash in the sum of Three Thousand One Hundred dollars ($3100.00), and that the sale of the said property is necessary in order for the petitioner to support himself and to pay the expenses of maintaining his ward, the said Julia Sill, and that the said Julia Sill has no interest in the said real estate except that as the wife of the said petitioner. WHEREFORE your petitioner prays that the County Board of Adams County, Nebraska, in which county the said Julia Sill is a resident and inhabitant, shall certify to the Judge of the District Court in and for Adams County, Nebraska, in writing, their approbation of the pro- posed sale of the said property and that they deem the said sale to be necessary. Motion by Foote, seconded by Shaw, that we approve the substitution of $1000 Village of Exeter, Nebraska Bond for $1000 Government Bond by the Roseland State Bank and the substitution of $2000 Federal Farm Mortgage Corporation for $2000 United States of America Treasury Bonds 2% - dated 1-15-42 by the Adams County Bank, Kenesaw, Nebraska for the security of the county funds. Roll call, all members present: Foote, Goble, Harm, Hohlen, James, Sergeant, and Shaw. Minutes of last meeting were read and approved. Motion by Foote, seconded by Harm, that the following resolution be adopted: "Be it resolved that whereas, the Church of God purchased the following described property towit: West fifty (50) feet, Lot Eighteen (18), Kerr's Addition, City of Hastings, on the 20th day of July, 1940; And whereas, in the year 1941 title to said property was held by Henry H. and Jessie C. Kissinger, minister of the said church and held in for the benefit of said church; and whereas, said Henry H. and Jessie C. Kis- singer deeded same back to the church on the 29th day of May, 1941; and whereas, during all of said year 1941 said property was used exclusively for church purposes; Now, therefore, be it resolved that said taxes assessed for the year 1941 be cancelled by the County Clerk as provided by law." Roll call, all voted aye. Motion carried. Motion'by Foote, seconded by Goble, that the bond of M. F. Deets, County Surveyor, be approved. Roll call, all voted aye. Motion carried.
