Board met as per. adjournment.
Roll call, all members present.
And now, on this 6th day of January, 1916, the matter of the appointment of a
County Judge to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Tilliam°F.Button, coming
on to be hoard before the Board, and John Snider, on the 2nd day of September, 1915,
having been appointed to fill—the iinexiii recd terry thus made vacant, it is roved by Kidder
and seconded by Hynes that said appointment be, and the same is hereby renewed, approved
and confirmed, and that upon the filing and approval of,the statutory bond, and taking
the oath, said- John Snider is hereby declared to be the,c.uly appointed County Judge, and
Judge of the County Court in and, for the County of Adams, and State of Nebraska, for the
fiscal year, commencing the 6th day of January, 1916. Motion prevailed.
Said matter coming on further to be heard- before the Board, upon the bond
tenderer by the said John Snider, and the oath As required by law having been taken, such
bond is found to be sufficient and satisfactory, and.. it 15 ' moved by -Benedict and seconded;
by Kidder that said bona, together with the surety thereon, be accepted and approved.

This matter coming on he further heard upon the application of John Snider,
county Judge, relating to the appointment of Clerk of the County Court, and Assistant
and stenographer, it is moved by Bi tner 2ndseconded by. George that said appointments,
viz; Adria snider, as Clerk of the County Court, upon her taking the statutory oath, and
Viols t;erling as assistant and stenographer, be, and the same hereby are, approved and
confirmed, and that said John Snider, County Judge, be, and he hereby is, authorized to
pay said Clerk of the County Court the sum of :1000.00 per year, and the said assistant
and stenographer the sign of ..`45.00 per month, such allowances and fees to be paid out of
the fees of the office, provided they are sufficient t crefor. Motion prevailed.

by his own voluntary resignation after serving this county as Probate Judge for eight
consecutive years, this Board desires to express their appreciation of his ever
willingness and cheerfulness to meet with them in consultation; and
"whereas William F.Button is retiring to private practice, he carries
with him the best wishes of this Board.

Moved by Kidder and seconded by Schlegel that the proposition of the Western
Brick & Supply Company of Hastings, to furnish cement at 11.82 per barrel net, F.O.B.
Hastings, be accepted, 2000 barrels to be maximum amount; and the Clerk be instructed to
enter into contract as per their proposition. Roll call, yeas- Benedict, Kidder, Bitner,

for county use, will be allowed unless accompanied by an order signed by a member of the

for an allowance of .220 per month for clerical assistance during the year 1916, be granted.

1916, designating the newspapers to publish the Board's proceedings and to fix the rate
therefor, be amended to react. as follows:- 'That the Adams County Democrat and the Hastings
Daily Tribune be designated as the papers to publish the supervisors' proceedings for the
year 1916, each of said papers to be paid one-half of orae -third of the legal rate for
advertising notices, as provided by Subdivision 5 of Section 954 of the Revised Statutes
of 1913. Motion prevailed.

Zero Township, Adarms County, Nebraska, during the year 1916, be accented. The intention
and acceptance of said bid of the Standard Bridge Company by said Board of Supervisors,
is for the construction, building, erection and completion of but one bridge as above
described, and said Board does hereby reject any and all other bids of said Standard
Bridge Company, for the reason that said. Board considers it for the best interest of
the county to do so. And said Board of Supervisors of Adams County, Nebraska, does hereby
refuse and re ject any and all of the biers of whatever kind and nature submitted for the
construction, repairing, and building of bridges within said county of Adams for the
year 1916. The intention of said; Board of Adams County bein to purchase the necessary
material and employ the necessary labor to construct, build, and repair the bridges
of the county for the year 1916, except the one bridge above described, for the reason

appropriation and use of the registration fees collected in road dragging fund, created
by virtue of Section 3045, of the Session Laws of 1915, at page 156, it is decided as
practicable by said Board of Adams County to diviae the graded public roads of said County

We, the undersigned, duly elected, qualified and acting members of the
township board of Cottonwood. Township, Adams County, Nebraska, respectfully
show unto your Honorable Body that it is necessary to repair, grade and clay
the public road between Sections Thirty four (34) and Thirty Five (35), in
said township; that the cost of said repairing, grading and claying will be
an unreasonable burden for said township to hear and the cost of which is more
than'can be raised by levying the maximum tax of fourteen mills for the year
1916, which amount has been levied by said township for said year.

county.
Superintendent Road Dragging, District No.
Complaint has been made to the Board by certain railroads to the
effect that dirt and refuse matter has been left within railroad right of
ways and upon tracks by supervisors and superintendents of road work.
you are hereby notified and instructed by the Board that in working
and dragging the roads care must be exercised in seeing that no dirt or
refuse matter is left on the railroad right of way or on railroad tracks
that could in any way obstruct or interfere with the running or operating
trains on said railroads. Failure to observe these instructions might
result in accidents, loss of property and life, and damage to the county.
You will observe closely this caution and instruction of the Board
of Supervisors.
The f ollowirig report of the majority of the Road and Bridge Committee was

COUNTY TREASURER:
In the office of the County Treasurer we checked the stubs of the tax receipts
with the treasurer's cash book and found the same to be correctly entered and accounted
for. Various other collections shown by the duplicates or by stub receipts were also
checked and found to be correct.
All vouchers for money paid out for any and all purposes were checked and
found to be correct and properly accounted for.
We find that the collections during the first six months of the year amount
to $252,927.00, which, together with the amount on hand. January 1st, 1916, makes a
total of $366,570.82. The expenditures from the various funds amount to $249,321.97,
leaving on hand. July 1st, 1916, a balance of $117,248,85.
