The following items of work will not be paid for directly, but will be considered subsidiary to the bid items of the contract. 1. Removal & replacement of topsoil. 2. The work of excavation, borrow and placing of material in embankments. 3. Water applied for excavation, embankments and subgrade preparation. B. The contractor shall be responsible for disposal of excavated materials from the site and shall seek his own source for borrow, if required. C. NOTES: 1. The subgrade shall be adjusted to conform to the lines and grades on the Plans, in accordance with Section 202 & 204 of 1985 Standard State Specifications and its supplements. The upper six (6) inches of the subgrade shall be scarified, mixed and recompacted to the following compaction require- ments: Percent Density Moisture Minimum 95 min. Opt. - 3% Requirements Max Opt. + 3% Areas not meeting specified moisture density test require- ments shall be removed and recompacted at the Contractor's expense. 2. All subgrade compaction and water necessary for subgrade construction shall not be paid for directly, but shall be considered subsidiary to the bid items of the contract. 3. Excavation, backfilling, sawing control joints, keyway, tie bars, dowel pins, and rubberized joint sealant shall be considered subsidiary to the unit price per square yard of pavement. All surplus excavation shall be wasted and/or placed and compacted in accordance with Section 202 & 204 of 1985 State Standard Specifications,in the basement excavations along 14th Street. Contractor shall seek any additional borrow, if required, and shall be responsible for the disposal of any additional waste not utilized. 4. The locations of all aerial and underground utility facilities may not be indicated on these plans. Under- ground utilities, whether indicated or not, will be located and flagged by the Utilities at the request of the Contractor. No excavation will be permitted in the area of under- ground utility facilities until all such facilities have been located and identified to the satisfaction of all parties. The excavation must be accomplished with extreme care in order to avoid any possibility of damage to the utility facility. 5. The Contractor will be required to maintain traffic throughout the duration of construction, 'n accordance with Standard Plans No. 920-R3, "Traffic Control Construction And Maintenance" and No. 932. "Urban Traffic Control Construction And Maintenance". All such work will not be paid for directly but shall be considered subsidiary to the bid items of the contract. RELOCATE STREET LIGHTING UNIT 1.
