The upper six (6) inches of the subgrade shall be scarified, mixed and recompacted to the following compaction requirements: Percent Density Moisture Minimum Requirements Maximum 95 Min. Opt. -3% Opt. +3% Areas not meeting specified moisture density test requirements shall be removed and recompacted at the Contractor's expense. All subgrade compaction and water necessary for subgrade construction shall not be paid for directly but shall be considered subsidiary to the items of the contract. Excavation, backfilling, and sawing control joints, keyway, tie bars, dowel pins, and rubberized joint sealant shall be considered subsidiary to the unit price per square yard of pavement. Subsection 1007.01 in the Standard Specifications is amended to include Asphaltic Concrete, Type 17C. The combined mineral aggregate for Asphaltic Concrete, Type 17C, shall have a minimum crushed value of 40 percent. The crushed value for mineral aggregates shall follow the Special Provision, "CRUSHED AGGREGATE FOR ASPHALTIC CONCRETE". Of the combined mineral aggregate not more than 60 percent can be limestone. The target field air void shall be 3.5 percent. The gradation of the combined aggregates shall be such that a job mix formula meeting the gradation requirements shown below can be established.
