Hynes, Orthmann, Saathoff and Weeks. Also present were County Clerk Lewis, Attorney Naples and
Highway Superintendent Dawn Miller.
Motion by Orthmann, seconded by Weeks to name the county Board Supervisors as the trustees of the
County Cemetery Association. Roll call, ayes: Thomsen, Curtis, Neumann, Hynes, Orthmann, Saathoff
and Weeks. Nays, none
Motion by Saathoff, seconded by Weeks to name the County Clerk as the secretary of the County Cemetery
Association. Roll call, ayes: Thomsen, Curtis, Neumann, Hynes, Orthmann, Saathoff and Weeks. Nays,
none.
There was discussion regarding the Dutch Reform Cemetery which has been named as the cemetery for
county burials. Miller stated there is no room for any more burials in this cemetery due to the
encroachment on the property for farming. It was discussed that the Scandinavian Lutheran Cemetery
across the road be used for any new county burials but there is a problem regarding encroachment on that
property as well. Former County Attorney Audrey Lee had researched this issue before but no one could
recall the results of her search. Attorney Naples was asked to see if there were any files that Attorney Lee
may have left regarding her finds on this issue. The trustees decided to wait for more information before
proceeding any further with the matter.
Motion by Orthmann, seconded by Curtis to return to regular session. Roll call, ayes: Thomsen, Curtis,
Neumann, Hynes, Orthmann, Saathoff and Weeks. Nays, none. Returned to regular session at 11:27 AM.
