Statutory meeting of the Adams County Board of Supervisors met as per recess of January 7, 1946. Wm. Hohlen, Chair-
man, presiding.
Roll call, all members present: Bivens, Goble, Harm, Hohlen, James, Koch, and. Sergeant.
Motion by Sergeant, seconded by Koch, that the insurance of the Adams County Farm in the amount of $6600 be given to
the Adams County Bank, Kenesaw. Roll call, all voted aye. Motion carried.
Motion by Bivens, seconded by James, that there appears to be no more unfinished business, that this Board now ad-
journ sine die. Roll call, all voted aye. Motion carried.
REORGANIZATION OF TIE BOARD.
Roll call, all members present:• Bivens, Goble, Harm, Hohlen, James, Koch, and Sergeant.
Motion by Goble, seconded by James, that Wm.. Hohlen be appointed as temporary chairman. Roll call, all voted aye.
Motion carried.
A ballot was ordered and the Chairman appointed Koch and Bivens as tellers with results as follows: First ballot -
Hohlen 2, Bivens 4., Sergeant 1.
The Chairman announced that Geo. W. Bivens, having received a majority of votes cast for the appointment of permanent
`chairman, he is hereby declared appointed chairman for the year 19)46.
. Motion by Harm, seconded by Goble, that The Hastings Daily Tribune be designated as the County official paper for the
year 19)46. Roll call, all voted aye. Motion carried.

and surplus in any of the depository banks named, said deposits to be protected by the bonds as required by law.
Roll call, all voted aye. Motion carried.
Motion by Koch, seconded by Bohlen, that we approve the following banks as County depositories: The Hastings Nation-
al Bank and City National Bank, Hastings, Adams County Bank, Kenesaw, and Roseland State Bank, Roseland; also, approve
the securities posted by the following banks as security for funds in the following amounts: The Hastings National
Bank S200,000, City National Bank $158,800, Roseland State Bank $20,000, and Adams County Bank $12,000. Roll call,
all voted aye. Motion carried.
Motion by Harm, seconded by Goble, that the wages of the County employees for the year 1946 beginning January 1, 1946
be as follows: Road dragging 500 per mile, single man 600 per hour, man and team 850 per hour, man and tWo teams
$1.10 per hour, three patrolmen and maintenance men $150.00 per month each, extra patrolmen 600 per hour, and common
labor 600 per hour. Roll call, all voted aye. Motion carried.
Motion by JaMes, seconded by Harm, that the salary of the assistant in the County Superintendent's office be $120.00
per month, custodian $90.00 per month, stenographer in the County Attorneyts office $120.00 per month, two assistants
in the County Treasurer's office $120.00 per month each, one assistant in the County Clerk's office $120.00 per month,
tax collector $150.00 per month, and the assistant in the County Judge's office $120.00 per month, all beginning Janu-
ary 1, 1946. Roll call, all voted aye. Motion carried.
Motion by Sergeant, seconded by Goble, that the County Clerk be and is hereby authorized to issue warrants on the
last day of each month to all County officers who are entitled to receive pay on county warrants as are fixed by law
governing the different County offices and upon agreement with the County Board; also, that the Chairman of the County
Board be authorized to sign warrants; and, that this order is to apply to County employees who are to receive a month-
ly salary. Roll call, all voted aye. Motion carried.
At 2:00 o'clock P. M. the Board recessed until 2:30 o'clock P. M.
At 2:30 o'clock p. M. the Chairman announced the following committees for the year 1946: FINANCE - Wm. Hohlen, Chair-
man, Jay Goble, and wm. Harm. ROADS AND BRIDGES - Jay Goble, Chairman, and all members of tfiard. LANDS AND
BUILDINGS - Wm. Harm, Chairman, and all members of the Board. COUNTY FARM - Perle Koch, Chairman, Wt. Haiqn-anCi

Motion by Hohlen, seconded by Sergeant, that the following list of names be submitted to the Clerk of the District
Court from which to draw the jury for the next term of District Court: Roll call, all voted aye. Motion carried.

Adams Motor Graders in the amount of $14538.00 under terms and conditions of proposed agreements in written contracts,
and the County Chairman hereby be authorized to sign in triplicate said contracts and a copy thereof be retained by
the County Board. Said cost of motor graders not to exceed bids heretofore made by the sellers. Roll call, Ayes:
Bivens, Goble, Hohlen, Koch, and sergeant. Nays: Harm and James. Motion carried.

Deweber for $350.00; and, that the Chairman of the County Board be hereby authorized to execute and deliver a quit
claim deed to said purchaser." Roll call, all voted aye. Motion carried.

Regular meeting of the Adams County Board of Supervisors met as per recess of January 22, 1946. Geo. W. Bivens, Chair-
man, presiding.
Roll call, all members present: Bivens, Goble, Harm, Hohlen, James, Koch, and sergeant.
Minutes of last two meetings were read and approved.
At 2:00 o'clock p. M., the time advertised, the Chairman ordered the Clerk to open bids submitted for bridge lumber.
Motion by Goble, seconded by Hohlen„ that we purchase two car loads of Bridge Plank @ $49.70 per thousand F.O.B. from
the lowest bidder, The Wheeler Lumber Bridge and Supply Company. Roll call, all voted aye. Motion carried.
Motion by Sergeant, seconded by Koch, that the monthly reports of the Soldiers' & Sailors' Relief Commission, (2) Reg-
ister of Deeds, (2) County Clerk Car Titles, (1) County Clerk, (1) Sheriff, (1) Clerk of the District Court, and (1)
County Judge be placed on file. Roll call, all voted aye.
Motion by James, seconded by Goble, that the bond of Milton M. Greene, Constable for the City of Hastings, and Lila L.
Reutlinger, Deputy Clerk of the District Court, be approved. Roll call, all voted aye. Motion carried.
Motion by Harm, seconded by James, that the report of the War Finance Committee and the letter of the Central Nebraska
Public Power & Irrigation District be placed on file. Roll call, all voted aye. Motion carried.
Motion by Goble, seconded by Harm, that we adopt the following resolution: "BE IT RESOLVED, That the County Board of
Supervisors sell to the following purchasers the following described properties:

and James. Motion carried.
Motion by Harm, seconded by James, that we accept the resignation of M. F. Deets, County Surveyor, to become effective
at once. Roll call, all voted aye. Motion carried.
Motion by Sergeant, seconded by Goble, that the following claims be allowed on their respective funds and the County

Meeting of the Adams County Board of Supervisors met as per recess of February 6, 1946. Geo. W. Bivens, Chairman,
presiding.
Roll call, all members present: Bivens, Goble, Harm, Hohlen, James, Koch, and Sergeant.
Motion by Harm, seconded by Goble, that this Board indicate their willingness to enter into agreement for the purpose
of matching Federal Aid Secondary Funds with approximately $30,000.00 Adams County Road Funds, providing these funds
will be spent for improving the Secondary Route between Hastings and Pauline, or beyond if funds permit, and that the

Minutes of last two meetings were read and approved.
Motion by Harm, seconded by Sergeant, that we adopt the following resolution: "BE IT RESOLVED, That the County Board
of Supervisors sell to the following purchaser the following described property:
Lot 1, Block 13, Ex. R. R., St. Joseph's Addition, City of Hastings, to J. J. Lewis for 431.00;
and, that the Chairman of the County Board be hereby authorized to execute and deliver a quit claim deed to said pur-
chaser." Roll call, all voted aye. Motion carried.
Motion by James, seconded by Harm, that the following resolution be adopted: "ere do hereby cancel the taxes for the
years and in the amounts, together with interest, as set out in Exhibit "A" on file in the County Clerk's office,
for the reason that said property was wrongfully assessed, a part thereof belonging to school districts, railroads,
churches, cities and villages, during the years set out in said Exhibit. The County Clerk is hereby instructed to

Motion by Harm, seconded by Hohlen, that the building on Lots 37 and 38, Kerr's Addition, City of Hastings, because
of an erroneous assessment, be assessed at $630.00 for the year 1945. Roll call, all voted aye. Motion carried.

Motion by Goble, seconded by Harm, that we adopt the following resolution: "WHEREAS, Valentine Beyke is the owner of
the NW4 of Section 13, Township 5, North, Range 9, Adams County, Nebraska, and is desirous of locating a drainage
ditch on the section line between said property and the SW4 of Section 12, Township 5, North, Range 9, Adams County,
Nebraska; and WHEREAS, there is no road open on this section line at the present time; and WHEREAS, it does not appear
practicable that a road will be placed upon said section line in the future; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED that this
Board has no objection to the construction of such ditch on said section line. Roll call, all voted aye. Motion car-
ried.

2. The Applicant will cause his premises to be wired in accordance with wiring specifications approved by the
District. The applicant's house is approximately 150 feet from the proposed distribution line of the District, or
from the road.
3. The Applicant will comply with and be bound by such rules and regulations as may, from time to time, be adopt-
ed by the District.
Acceptance of this application and the furnishing of electric energy by the District to the Applicant will consti-
tute an acceptance of the above offer to purchase electric energy and the contract between the Applicant and the Dis-
trict shall continue in force for one year from the date service is first furnished to the Applicant by the District

The Adams County Board of Supervisors, together with the County Clerk and County Assessor, met as a Board of Equali-
zation at the call of the County Clerk as per recess of June 25, 1946. Geo. T. Bivens, Chairman, presiding.
Roll call, all members present: Anderson, Berg, Bivens, Goble, Harm, Hohlen, James, Koch, and Sergeant.
Motion by Harm, seconded by James, that the Adams County Board of Supervisors adopt the Adams County Budget for the
year of 1946-47. Roll call, all voted aye. Motion carried.
Motion by Goble, seconded by Hohlen, that we levy 2.8 mills for the F. H. S. Fund on all property outside the Free
High School Districts. Roll call, all voted aye. Motion carried.
Motion by Sergeant, seconded by Koch, that WHEREAS, the assessed valuation of Adams County for the year 1946 as equal-
ized by this Board, accepted and approved by the State Board of Equalization, are now ready to fix a levy on said val-
uation in each subdivision be as follows, to -wit:

And the County Clerk be and is hereby authorized to extend these levies on the 1946 tax list against the said valua-
tions in the various governmental subdivisions of Adams County, Nebraska. Roll call, all voted aye. Notion carried.
Motion by Bohlen, seconded by Goble, that every citizen of Adams County between the ages of 21 and 65 years be taxed
$3.00 each for the Old Age Assistance Fund. Roll call, all voted aye. Motion carried.
Motion by Koch, seconded by James, that this Board adjourn sine die as a Board of Equalization. Motion carried. Boar

Regular meeting of the Adams County Board of Supervisors met as per recess of June 6, 1946. Geo. W. Bivens, Chairman,
presiding.
Roll call, all members present: Bivens, Goble, Harm, Hohlen, James, Koch, and Sergeant.
Minutes of last meeting were read and approved.
Motion by Harm, seconded by Goble, that we adopt the following resolution: "BE IT RESOLVED, That the County Board of,
Supervisors sell to the following purchaser the following described properties: Block 20,Sewell's Addition,City of Hasi
Lots 2 to 10 inclusive, and Lots 19 to 21 inclusive, Block 3, East Side Addition, City of Hastings;
Lots 1 to 6 inclusive, and Lots 10 to 12 inclusive, Block 15, Sewell's Addition, City of Hastings;
Lots 4 to 18 inclusive, Block 16, Sewell's Addition, City of Hastings, to The Hastings Corporation for $600.00;
and, that the Chairman of the County Board be hereby authorized to execute and deliver a quit claim deed to said pur-
chaser." Roll call, all voted aye. Motion carried.
Motion by Harm, seconded by James, that we hereby cancel the taxes for the year'1937, together with interest, as set
out in an affidavit on file in the County Clerk's office, for the reason said property was wrongfully assessed, be-
longing to St. Cecilia's Church. The County Clerk is hereby instructed to cancel said taxes of record. Roll call,
all voted aye. Motion carried:

of the District Court, Register of Deeds, County Sheriff, County Clerk Car Titles, County Judge, and County Clerk be

Minutes of last meeting were read and approved.
Motion by Koch, seconded by Sergeant, that the bond of Frank Barton, Constable for Silver Lake Township, be approved.

Motion by Sergeant, seconded by Harm, that the applications of Bernice Hibbard, Helen De Bord, and Betty Pickering

of Supervisors sell to the following purchasers the following described properties:

City of Hastings, to Antka Marie Theesen for $ 65.00;
Lot 2, Dunlap's Subdivision of Block 15, City of Hastings, to A. W. Wright for $50.00;
Lots 17 and 18, Block 2, West Lawn Addition, City of Hastings, to Albert W. Martin for $150.00;
West 35 feet of Lots 119 to 122 inclusive, Original Town, Village of Kenesaw, to the Village of Kenesaw for

Motion by Harm, seconded by Hohlen, that we cancel the taxes for the year 1946, together with interest, as set out in
an affidavit on file in the County Clerk's office, for the reason that said property was wrongfully assessed, belong-
ing to St. Cecilia's Church. The County Clerk is hereby instructed to cancel said taxes of record. Roll call, all
voted aye. Motion carried.
Motion by Goble, seconded by Koch, that we authorize the County Treasurer to strike from the tax list personal taxes
delinquent two or more years, in which due diligence has been exercised on his part for collection, in accordance with
Section 77-1926, Compiled Statutes 1929. Roll call, all voted aye. motion carried.
Motion by James, seconded by Sergeant, that the application of Marjorie Perry for Mother's Pension be approved. Roll
call, all voted aye. Motion carried.
