Regular meeting of the Adams County Board of Supervisors met as per adjournment of December 6th, 1935. J. E.
Marian, Chairman, presiding.
Roll call, all members present: Berg, Bowers, Goble, Harm, Marian, Shannon and Shaw.
The minutes of last meeting were read and approved.
Motion by Harm, seconded by Shannon, that the application of Mrs. Katherina Koch and Mrs. William Mead be
complied with and the clerk instructed to issue warrants for the same. Roll call, all voted aye. Motion carried.
Motion by Goble, seconded by Berg, that we approve the budget of expenses for the Adams County Farm Bureau for
$2500 for the year 1936. Roll call, all voted aye. Motion carried.
Motion by Bowers, seconded by Shannon, that the fourth quarterly report of the Clerk of District Court,
Sheriff, and the annual report of the County Superintendent be placed on file. Roll call, all voted aye.
,motion carried.
Motion by Harm, seconded by Shaw, that we appoint Dr. C. R. Spicer as a member of the Adams County Board of
Health to succeed Dr. E. B. Hamel. Roll call, all voted aye. Motion carried.
Motion by Harm, seconded by bowers, tat we purchase one drag line from the Lincoln Road Equipment Co. at an
agreed price of $1535.00. Roll call, all voted aye. Motion carried.
Motion by ohannon, seconded by Harm, that the following claims be allowed on their respective funds and the
clerk instructed to issue warrants for the same. Roll call, ail voted aye. Motion carried.

Statutory meeting of the Board.
Roll call, all members present: Berg, Bowers, Goble, Harm, Marian, Shannon & Shaw.
Motion by Shannon, seconded by Berg, that as their appears to be no more unfinished business that this board now
adjourn sine die. Motion carried.
RE -organization of the Board.
Motion by Bowers, seconded by Shannon, that J. E. Marian be appointed as temporary chairman. Motion carried.
Motion by Shaw, seconded by Goble, that we proceed to take an informal ballot for the appointment of a permanent
chairman. Roll call, all voted aye. Motion carried.
An informal ballot was ordered and the chairman appointed Shannon and Goble as tellers with results as follows:
Marian Six, Shannon one.
Motion by Berg, seconded by Bowers, that the informal ballot be made formal and that J. E. Marian be declared duly
appointed chairman of the Adams County Board of Supervisors for the year 1936. Motion carried.
At 10130 A.M. the board recessed until 10:45. At 10:45 the chairman announced the following committees for the

Motion by Shaw, seconded by Shannon, that the county clerk be and is hereby authorized to issue warrants on the
1st day of each month to all county officers, deputies and clerks in county offices who are entitled to receive
pay on county warrants in such amount as are fixed by law governing the different county offices, or upon agree-
ment with the county board, also that the chairman of the board be authorized to sign such warrants, also that
this order is to apply to county road employees who are to receive a monthly salary. Roll call, all voted aye.
Motion carried.
Motion by Shannon, seconded by Shaw, that Jay Goble be appointed Highway Commissioner for the year 1936. Roll
call, all voted aye. Motion carried.
Motion by Shaw, seconded by Goble, that the salaries of the county employees for the year 1936 be as follows:
Roaddragging 300 per single mile, single man 250 per hr., maxi and team 400 per hr., man and two tema 50¢ per hr.,
man and team operating dump wagon 50¢ per hr, patromen 40¢ per hr., maintenance men 70.00 per month. Roll call,
all voted aye. Motion carried.
Motion by Harm, seconded by Bowers, that the salaries of the deputies and assistants in the various offices
beginning January lst 1936 be as follows: Assistant in County Superintendent office $90.00, Clerk of County
Court $90.00, Deputy Register of Deeds $90.00, Deputy Clerk of District Court $93.00, Assistant County Attorney
$70.00, Deputy Sheriff 199.00. Roll call, all voted aye. Motion carried.
Motion by Goble, seconded Shaw, that we reappoint Owen G. Evans as a member of the Soldiers & Sailors Relief
Committee. Roll call, all voted aye. Motion carried.
Motion by Goble, seconded by Shaw, that we approve the substitituion of bonds by Hastings National Bank; $4,000
School District #162 Gage County, $1,000 Douglas County School Dist. # 61, $2,000 Valley county, for, $7,000
City of Holdrege; also withdrawal of $1,000 City of Holdrege. Roll call, all voted aye. Motion carried.

Bess Hiatt, Gertrude Keller and Effie Carpenter be allowedland the clerk instructed to issue warrants for the

Motion by Harm, seconded by Goble, that the 1935 annual report of the Adams County Farm Bureau be placed on file.

Motion by Goble, seconded by 6hannon, that we agree to employ the signers of aork Agreements assigned to the
county or such of them as we wish to employ same to be employed by the county in accordance with the terms and
conditions of the work agreement and further provide that such employees are entitled to the benefits of the
Workman Compensation law of the state. Roll call, all voted aye. Motion carried.
Motion by Shaw, seconded by Berg, that we approve the construction of bridges by the Central Nebraska Power and
Irrigation District at the following locations:

that we approve the securities. $10,000 Rome Owners Loan Corp., $5,000 U.S. Treasurer Bond, $5,000 Federal Farm
Mortgage Bonds. The bonds on deposit for safe keeping in the Hastings National Bank. Roll call, all voted aye.

Motion by Harm, seconded by Berg, that the second quarterly reports of the Sheriff and the Clerk df,:Listrict Court

Motion by Shannon, seconded by Shaw, that the claim of William H. Swanson for $664.56 be disallowed. Roll colt,

Regular meeting of the Adams County Board of Supervisors met as per adjournment of July 6th, 1936. J. E.
Marian, Chairman, presiding.
Roll call, members present: Berg, Goble, Harm, Marion, Shannon and Shaw. Absent Bowers.
Minutes of last meeting were read and approved.
Motion by Goble, seconded by Shaw, that the petitions of the various townships for the eridication of bind
weed be tabled onaccount of insufficient number of qualified signers and that the county furnish Sodium
Chlorate at 5¢ per pound to land owners, and townships for township roads. The order to be placed with
supervisors before September 1st. Roll call, all voted aye. Motion carried.
Motion by Harm, seconded by Shaw, that we recommend to the Nebraska Game Forestation and Parks Commission
that the Pheasant Hunting Season in Adams County be closed this year. Roll call, all voted aye. Motion
carried.
Motion by Harm, seconded by Shannon, that we purchase from the Linehart Motor Co. one Chevrolet 1 ton truck
as per specifications in the county clerks office at an agreed price of $613 f.o.b. Hastings and one 1930
ford truck. Roll call, all voted aye. Motion carried.
Motion by Shannon, seconded by Shaw, that the second quarterly report of the County Clerk, County Judge,
and Register of Deeds be placed on file. Roll call, all voted aye. Motion carried.
Motion by Berg, seconded by Shannon, that we approve the securities in the amount of $110,500 in the Hastings
National Bank held as security of county funds, also approve $84,300 securities in City National Bank held
as security for county funds. Roll call, all voted aye. Motion carried.
Motion by Shaw,- seconded by Goble, that we approve the $59,800 Municipal and School Bonds and $3500 in
Government Bonds in the investment funds of the County Treasurer. Roll call, all voted aye. Motion carried.

Roll call, members present: Berg, Goble, Harm, Marian, Shannon and Shaw. Absent, Bowers.
Minutes of last meeting were read and approved.
Motion by Harm, seconded by Shaw, that the application of Hulbert Malick for a license to conduct a Road House
and place of amusement be denied. Roll call, all voted aye. Motion carried.
Motion by Harm, seconded by Berg, that the order of the court in regard to Mother's Pension for Elizabeth McAleer
be complied with and the clerk be instructed to issue warrant for the same. Roll call, all voted aye. Motion
carried.
Motion by Harm, seconded by Goble, that we enter into a contract with Sundermeier and Bengston for an audit of
the various county offices for the year 1936 at an agreed price of 4375. Roll call, all voted aye. Motion
carried.
Motion by Shaw, seconded by Shannon, that the following miscellaneous receipts be made a part of the Supervisors

Minutes of last meeting were read and approved.
Motion by Harm, seconded by Berg, that the State Audit of the County Treasurer office be received and placed
on file. Roll call, all voted aye. Motion carried.
Motion by Shannon, seconded by Bowers, that the order of the court for Mother's Pension for Thelma Smith be
complied with and the clerk be instructed to issue warrants for the same. Roll Cali, all voted aye. Motion
carried.
Motion by Shaw, seconded by Goble, that the third quarterly report of the County Judge, Recorder, and County
Clerk be placed on file. Roll call, all voted aye. Motion carried..

Motion by Shannon, seconded by Shaw, that the following resolution be adopted:
RESOLUTION.
WHEREAS, a substantial benefit will be obtained by Adams County through work to be performed by such
persons on public projects, and it is for the public interest that Jay Goble make a request for the assign-
ment of such Work Agreements:
NOW, THEREFORE, Be it resolved that requests be made to the Resettlement Administration to assign such
persons who have signed Work Agreements to work on public projects in Adams County, and that Jay Goble, of
Ayr, Nebr be, and he is authorized, from time to time, to make formal request for the assignment to Adams
County of such Work Agreements and for Such number of persons as the progress of the work on public projects
in Adams County may require, and for that purpose the said Jay Goble is hereby authorized to execute for and
in the name of Adams County, a formal request to the Resettlement Administration in the following form
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that in consideration of the assignment of such work agreements, and the work
to be performed by such persons, Adams County Board of Supervisors agrees: (a) To supply all tools, equip-
ment, materials and other supplies to be used on the above project, and if for any reason it should fail
to supply such material and supplies, to release the laborers for other work projects for which the labor
is needed and supplies are available; (b) to use all reasonable care and consideration in the direction of
such laborers, to provide adequate supervision of the laborers on the project, and to supply the necessary
appliances and materials for administering first-aid in case of injury; (c) that if it should accept for
employment any client who lives more than, five miles from the location of the project, it will provide him
with the necessary transportation free of charge; (d) that no client shall be permitted to work more than
eight (8) hours in any day or more than forty (40) hours in any week, and no client shall be permitted to
work on a Sunday or a legal holiday; (e) that no client shall be permitted to work whose physical condition
would make his employment dangerous either to himself or to other persons; (f) to make monthly reports to
the Resettlement Administration of the number of hours of labor performed by each client.
And further agrees to assume responsibility for the payment, and agrees to pay to such persons, com-
pensation for injuries arising out of, and in the course of their employment in accordance with the pro-
visions of the Workmen's Compensation Law of this state.Roll call, all voted aye. Motion carried.
